Build a register before choosing a finish
Number each door, drawer and cupboard on a simple room plan. Photograph the fitting closed and open, then record overall size, fixing centres, projection and the thickness of the material it passes through. Describe the actual fault: a handle can be loose because its screws are short, its thread is damaged or the door face has failed. Keep one removed example in a labelled bag and note which items are communal, landlord-supplied or part of an integrated appliance. A register prevents similar-looking components being mixed and shows whether the sensible result is adjustment, individual repair or a coordinated replacement set.
