Approach as a visitor
Check where the number first becomes readable without entering an unsafe stopping position.
GATE · HOUSE NUMBER · PARCEL POINT
A property entrance must guide visitors and deliveries without creating a loose sign, awkward latch or exposed parcel obstruction. Bob’s helps organise ordinary entrance fittings around real sight lines and daily gate movement.

OPEN LAND CHANGES THE PROPERTY BRIEF
Enfield’s housing and economic land assessment identifies East Lodge at Botany Bay as countryside within land wholly located in the Green Belt and Local Open Space. The council’s completed Eastern Gateway woodland project also links Botany Bay towards the restored Enfield Chase landscape through new or improved paths and woodland. These planning facts do not describe every home, but they confirm a rural-edge setting where open exposure and site access deserve attention.
Photograph the approach, gates, parking position and carrying route as well as the room. Identify whether work is in the heated house, an attached space or a detached outbuilding. Bob’s can assess suitable everyday fittings and repairs; roof leaks, structural movement, unsafe electrics, active damp and protected external change require their proper specialist or consent route.
ROAD EDGE TO FRONT DOOR
Check where the number first becomes readable without entering an unsafe stopping position.
Keep signs clear of foliage and use mounting points that do not weaken a moving component.
Test latch reach and gate travel while carrying a bag, without forcing alignment.
Choose a parcel point outside door swings, vehicle routes, drainage and exposed ground.
GIVE EACH ENTRANCE ITEM ONE JOB
A collection of signs, boxes and hooks becomes clutter unless each position is chosen by use.
Use adequate contrast and a position visible on the normal approach, without fixing to unsuitable or protected fabric.
Check posts, hinges and ground clearance before replacing the latch; poor alignment may originate elsewhere.
Keep any electrical or connected installation with the proper provider. A product mount still needs a clear viewing and reaching position.
Size it for ordinary deliveries and preserve drainage, escape, door travel and access to meters or bins.

TEST THE VIEW, NOT JUST THE WALL
Print the proposed digits at full size and tape the paper temporarily to the intended position. Walk or drive the normal approach in daylight, then view it again in dull conditions without stopping in the road. Check contrast against the background and whether an open gate, hedge or parked vehicle blocks the line. The position should identify the property before a visitor reaches a decision point.
Choose a product explicitly suited to its exposure and follow its mounting guidance. Do not attach a sign where screws could split a thin gate board or interfere with moving hardware. If illumination is required, use the appropriate electrical route. Photograph the completed view at approach distance, not only a close-up that proves the digits look neat.
PREPARED-WORK LABOUR GUIDE
The calculator applies Bob’s published weekday labour rates. It excludes materials, travel constraints, parking, specialist damp or structural diagnosis, fixed services and work requiring planning or landlord consent.
KEEP MOVEMENT SEPARATE
Signs and boxes stay clear of hinges, stops, latches and the area swept by the moving leaf.
Posts and parcel points must not narrow the route or become hidden low-level collision risks.
A container or mat should not bridge a channel, trap leaves or conceal standing water beside the threshold.

BOTANY BAY ENTRANCE FAQ
View a temporary full-size copy along the normal legal approach before final fixing. Check contrast, foliage and the effect of an open gate.
Not by itself. Inspect posts, hinges, frame stiffness and ground contact before choosing hardware or moving the keep.
Use private space clear of doors, vehicles, drainage, meters and escape routes. The substrate and product must suit the intended load and exposure.
Fixed electrical work needs the appropriate qualified route. A handyman brief may cover agreed non-electrical supports or ordinary surrounding repairs.
Enter only defined mechanical fitting and adjustment tasks. Products, groundworks, electrics, access and concealed post failure require separate confirmation.
Test the gate and door through full travel, view the number at approach distance, check drainage and retain product keys, codes and instructions securely.
NAME THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Include wide photographs, intended load and product details. Bob’s can decide whether the request is a prepared handyman task or needs another investigation first.
MAKE A DELIVERY TEST
Choose a carton close to the largest regular parcel size and place it at the proposed point. Open the gate and front door, move a bin past it and check whether the package remains visible from public space. Mark the footprint and lid movement. The test may show that a smaller box in a better position works more safely than a large container beside the drive. Record who holds the key or code and how water drains around it; a secure product is not useful if routine delivery leaves the entrance obstructed.
